Job description
We are looking for a Learning Support Worker to actively contribute to creating an enriching and stimulating learning environment. The successful candidate will be part of a team ensuring that the school’s resources are used effectively to promote student progress, maintain high standards of care, and ensure health and safety in compliance with school policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a stimulating learning environment in line with the school’s ethos.
- Implement group and individual educational programmes under the direction of the Team Leader, contributing to planning and preparation.
- Be committed to Conductive Education principles in supporting student development.
- Contribute to the development of educational programmes and individual student goals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for assigned students.
- Support all aspects of the students’ day, ensuring they receive comprehensive care.
- Provide high standards of physical and emotional care to students.
- Maintain a safe, hygienic, and well-presented physical environment.
- Participate in the school’s staff training and development programme.
- Maintain professional contact with parents/guardians and actively support the school’s ethos of “Every Child Matters.”
- Collaborate effectively across departments and teams to implement the school’s strategic direction.
- Deliver customer service excellence and contribute to the school’s quality framework.
- Assist with the physical facilitation of students and move furniture and equipment as required.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably directed by the Principal.
Essential Qualifications:
- Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification).
Knowledge & Experience:
Essential:
- Awareness of data protection and GDPR.
- Experience working with young people in an educational or care setting.
- Understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
Desirable:
- Basic knowledge of cerebral palsy and general disability awareness.
- Experience in supporting students with a range of additional needs.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to adhere to safe practice and school policies.
- Ability to use initiative and adapt to changing priorities.
- Able to maintain a calm, empathetic, and supportive approach in all situations.
